in the last weekEveryone was too busy talking and laughing in the hallway. I called ahead and was told a 15-30 minute wait, but after an hour and 40 minutes we just left. There were only 3 people ahead of us so we know they weren’t over loaded, just hanging out. Made my 3yo wait forever listening to people chatting outside the door to ultimately need to leave because no 3yo can sit in a small room for over an hour. The receptionist was amazing though, very kind and helpful.
a week agoI had a great experience with this urgent care. The only 2 things I can really complain about is echoing TVs in the waiting area (that gets annoying after some time) and a digital questionnaire.
After checking in they ask you to fill out some paperwork digitally, and it’s a very lengthy questionnaire. The advantage is that nobody will misinterpret what you said or overlook any details. Plus, it takes the load off the staff, so they spend more time providing treatment and less time taking notes. The disadvantage is that not everyone is tech-savvy, so I can see older patients struggling with filling out that paperwork. Also, I clearly remember that because of a technical glitch in the application I was not able to put in a medication I was allergic to.
Once the paperwork was filled out, everything went smooth from there. The xray tech was very friendly. The doctor was empathetic and answered all the questions. They asked me to relay the visit notes to my primary care doc, and apparently sent the visit summary to my primary care doctor without me having to do anything.
After the visit I picked up my prescriptions right away. They were waiting for me at the pharmacy of my choice. After I started taking my prescriptions I felt better in 36 hours.
I’m a big fan of this location.
in the last weekOnline reservation doesn’t matter. I was 10 min early for my appointment and was number 1 on the waiting list they sent me, but 5 or 6 people got called while I was waiting. Ended up waiting for 2 hours before I was able to see someone… what is the point of making reservations? What is the point of providing a waiting list. The funny thing was I was number one on the list while people were getting called and the list was getting shorter. People who walked in were called before me as well.a month ago1st time visit. Check in process very quick and easy. Waited on very promptly. Test completed and out with prescription within 1/2 hour. Staff was very friendly and professional. The PA advised I should feel better within 24 hours. After taking the first dose of meds I started feeling better within a couple of hours.a month agoI was recently added to my husband’s health insurance, and since it’s a new company to me, I have not yet had the opportunity to see a primary care doctor that operates within the new insurance. I came to an Urgent Care because I was having pain in my ribs, and wanted to seek medical advice. The first question the Doctor asked me, was “Do you have a primary Care Physician?” To which I answered a simple “no”. She then scolded me for not doing so, and said “We are not a primary care center, we are an urgent care, you need to have a primary care Doctor.” While I understand the point she was trying to make, regardless, I still needed to seek medical attention asap, to make sure my injuries wouldn’t prevent me from going back to work. The comment made me feel unwelcome and shamed for asking for help. As the appointment continued, I asked a few questions just to make sure I was understanding properly, and I was made to feel stupid for asking, and she never really gave me a clear answer. When the x ray technician came to get me, he was very kind and compassionate, and he was able to make me feel more comfortable. I understand that professionals in any setting deal with these things every day and can become jaded or “straight forward” when speaking to patients. But for the patient, this might be the very first time they’re experiencing this situation, and we don’t know any better. We’re relying on the professional to educate us and help walk us through the process. Being in pain can be scary and a little compassion goes a long way.

a month agoJessica Lloyd was my caring NP today when I went there. First, I just love this place. SO MUCH BETTER than going to the hospital. My experience today was SO fast, I was truly shocked how quickly they got me back and got my procedure done. Second, Jessica was WONDERFUL. This was my first encounter with her, and it makes me wish she was my normal doctor! She was so nice, so funny, down to earth. She genuinely listened to me, and worked quickly to get my procedure done, and did it as painless as possible, all the while making me feel comfortable and laugh. She was so great. Thank you guys!a week agoBrought both my kids for illness because their regular clinic didn’t have availability for several days. Tested negative for COVID so they called it a viral cold. Fast forward and the pharmacy said the insurance denied coverage because the clinic would need to call to get authorization for use of a combo drug (a combo nasal spray) When I called back to U.N.I. they said “we don’t call for authorizations” you’ll just have to buy something over the counter then. Really??? All you had to do is call with a diagnosis!!! After being there 3 hours with only one other person in the waiting room they had more than enough time to make a phone call. The kids are absolutely miserable and getting worse. Would not recommend based on their internal procedures.a month agoWent to the Frederick location last week. Was greeted by a young man who was very polite and professional. I don’t see him there much often, I believe he is from India (handsome, tanned skin, beautiful black silky hair). Ryan was my MA who took me back and was very professional. He took my vitals and went over my medication. Garry was the Doctor that day who was very knowledgeable and thorough. He answered all my questions and doubt. There was no wait time at all. I was in and out very fast!!!. Thank you UNI team for your good service!!!.a year agoI went last week because I was bitten by a dog and wanted to get checked out. I arrived before they opened and there was 1 person already waiting at the door. If you get there early, start the line LOLThe office isn’t very aesthetically pleasing. Looks very out dated with no attention paid to ensuring the facility looks welcoming etc. That said, it was remarkably clean and well organized. My exam room was minimal and quite large.
For the most part, staff were courteous. The lady who took my blood pressure and medical history was very rude when I declined to be weighed for a dog bite. That was very disappointing as I have a right to direct the course of my care by refusing to consent and be free of judgment from a healthcare practitioner.
Also, it was quite slow. Took 2 hours and I am not sure why? There were only 2 people in the waiting room with me, I saw one other person and the waiting room was empty when I left.
The slowness of the care and the rude staff person is the reason for the star deduction.
2 months agoI came to the urgent care that is suppose to be open at 8 am. I was waiting to be seeing the in front desk told me the doctor does not come until 9 am. I feel really sick could not go anywhere else. This is very irresponsible.and careless about punctuality, and health of their patients. If doctor is not coming to see patients until 9 than they should be openning at 8:30am and not 8am. When you go to the doctor is because you are sick and you want the doctor to be there for you, not a this place. I hope this office can change the schedule and come to work on time.

a week agoI have gone to Winding Cross Urgent Care on a fairly regular basis since they opened. I can count on them for honest, consistent, quality care. Staff are always kind, caring, and efficient. If they don’t know something, they will tell me where to go.a month agoThe physicians, medical assistants, nurses and front desk have all been good. My issue is with the billing person and office manager. They were provided my card to be charged for an account at $50 per month. I noticed this was not done. I called and left message with front desk and billing person. No return phone calls. Took my son in for an appointment, paid the balance and then was informed they turned the account over to collections. I then asked for copies of notifications or bills, they could provide nothing. I asked for record of any phone calls they made, they could provide nothing. Extremely predatory billing practice. Would caution anyone who is self pay or dealing with a high deductible to avoid. Clearly much easier for them to turn people over to collections vs answering a phone.4 weeks agoI went in not feeling well at all. Evryone from the office staff, the nurse and the Doctor they all made me feel at ease, welcome and really showed compassion and concern while being thorough diagnosing my symptoms with smiles. I felt well taken care of and in good hands. As someone who has mostly worked in the pharmacy, dental & medical field I really appreciate the staff’s professionalism and kindness.a week agoI had small Fracture in my left middle toe. I made appt and it was quick and the staff and the doctor was amazing!!! The place is very clean and organized. Everything went smooth and quick. Love them.2 months agoThere was no one in the waiting room when I arrived, (That was lucky) so my wait was very short. The receptionist was very nice and efficient. The doctor was informative about my condition (poison ivy or poison oak). She recommended OTC medications to help relieve symptoms. Whenever I have a need to visit this urgent care, they always do something to make you feel better.
