a month agoI am out of state and my dog ate a sock :/. I would normally go here / call if I was in town, but sadly there were no animal emergency care places open where I am visiting. I believe I spoke with Danielle (I’m so sorry if the name is wrong). She was beyond helpful and went above and beyond to help me and talked with the doctor. I am just beyond pleased with the kindness that I received today over the phone. They did not need to help as much as they did but they did and for that I am so grateful! My pup is now fine and can get back to enjoying the beach!3 months agoI don’t have the words to express how grateful I am for the wonderful team at AEC. Everyone at Boundary Bay / AEC is competent, understanding, responsive and kind despite having one of the most difficult jobs in the world treating suffering animals, and helping their emotional parents, daily. Thank you all. You are quite literally heroes.Our senior male cat has been having gastrointestinal and urinary problems and has been here multiple times in the last few months, after showing signs that he was in discomfort and we weren’t able to get him in to see our regular vet immediately. We were always counseled thoroughly on what courses of action could be taken and what the cost would be *before* expensive treatment was provided. All of our many questions were answered transparently and with kindness. A BIG special thank you to Dr. Johnson for helping our cat Mogget and explaining to us exactly what was going on every step of the way. We appreciate you so much.
Yes, there will most likely be a wait time – just like in a human ER. You can also call ahead and ask about wait times. From my experience, your pet is assessed and will be provided care according to the urgency of their problem and the urgency of other pet’s problems who are waiting for care as well.
Yes, they require payment on the date of care provided, as I can only imagine they must do in order to ensure they can afford to continue to provide great care and also pay their excellent staff. The staff and website are both very clear on this detail, and can counsel you on options such as CareCredit in order to help pay for your visit if you’re in financial difficulty. If you’re worried about how to pay, ask them to walk you through the options. They do not offer payment plans in-house.
They will provide you with an itemized estimate of how much expensive care will cost before providing it in order to make sure you are aware of the costs. For a longer visit, they have you pay a percentage of the *lower* total estimated bill as a deposit, something that once again is absolutely justified for the level of care they’re giving. The cost of an initial daytime emergency visit for a cat is around $125 (additional medications/exams/care add onto that).
Please take your animal in if they’re in obvious discomfort! By the time pets show it to us, it’s time to take it seriously, as I have learned.
3 months agoExceptional service & care for our cat. Each staff member kept us abreast of the process and updated us as required. We felt comfortable with their suggestions, the cost for the care that they were providing and ultimately we left with a much happier cat! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!a month agoEach person here is so very caring for every animal & human that comes through their doors! We came here for our Sweet Long Hair Dachshund (Theo) having to have surgery for his Cancer to *Hopefully* get removed?. Boundary Bay Specialty Veterinary Hospital & Animal Emergency Care, are Both located in this same building & share services in this building. When the specialty clinic staff are done for their day, then the Animal Emergency Care is open the rest of the time & can take emergencies & keep their patients (pets) from Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital after hours & needed continuous treatment! These are such Wonderful people! We just Love how Wonderful they all are! Our Theo does Not like going anywhere & is always upset & barking. When he comes here, he sits down & does Not say (bark or whine) One word/sound! He Loves these wonderful staff of this life saving place for our fur babies! Thank You to you All! Blessings to all of you & to our Great Surgeons & Oncologist! We can Never repay you for helping save our Theo!?

2 months agoI had a fantastic visit at this clinic. The waiting room was really clean and welcoming. The entire staff was incredibly kind. I felt like each staff member actually listened to me and did their job really well. Everyone had smiles on their faces, even the Doctor’s. Who was attentive, kind and professional yet laid back and relaxing. I was seen quickly and thoroughly. I highly recommend this clinic.2 weeks agoThe WORST medical experience I’ve ever had! A month ago I went for a lab test on a bump I had and I got some antibiotics, never got a follow up call so I assumed all was well. A month later got similar bumps/ boils over several parts of my body. So I went back, I went in on a Saturday. They told me then that whatever lab they ran the month before came back cause my insurance denied it. And they never called to tell me that! And I called almost everyday following that appointment this time for my results based on that experience. Well I called today after a long weekend for them to tell me I had MRSA. Which in theory I either got there or I had and they didn’t give me the right antibiotic because they didn’t get my lab results the first time and didn’t call me to acknowledge that. When I called them today (Tuesday) and asked when they got my lab back. They got it on Friday, I called on Friday and Saturday and they didn’t let me know! They even acknowledged that there was a note on my chart about calling and asking about my labs multiple times. They blamed it on training new receptionist but in multiple situations have been let down by their staff. Not to mention the first time I went in and they swabbed my blemish the male doctor dropped it on the ground and sent it anyways cause “nothing spilled out”. Last time I’ll be going here, very fast service but clearly sloppy and not care about their patients. I must say though the female doctor that helped me my second visit was very calming and was a fantastic doctor and I would visit her at a different clinic if she ever moved.a month agoBeen here 3 times for different things. I think they are really good. I have always seen the younger male doctor and he seems more like an old friend who knows a ton about medical stuff. He’s hilarious and professional at the same time which is a very hard skill to master.2 months agoI saw Dr. Frederick McLevich today after my own medical facility was not going to be able to see me until August 3rd for a very high fever and body aches… I have several serious autoimmune conditions and one is fibrosis on my lungs. No one had room within the extra walk ins either. I called up Super Track Urgent Care and they told me it would be a couple of hours wait, so my husband and I, both in our 60s, waited in the car. My fever spiked and eventually broke. When I was called in 30 minutes earlier, I was elated! Finally, someone Was going to figure out this stuff. The staff was so welcoming and Dr. McLevich was very understanding, listened to everything I had to say, thorough and very kind. He tested me for three separate possibilities and alas came up with a positive test. He immediately ordered my medication ( after figuring out what I’m allergic to… need to take a photo of that ), and by the time I walked out of the office, my med had already been filled for me. I highly recommend Dr. Frederick McLevich and the Super Track as well. I might be in the ER if I waited til the next available appointment with my regular healthcare team.2 months agoDenied me care after wasting my time scheduling an appointment, going through intake and then waiting for the doctor. Made them aware injury was during a work interview. Never recommend a clinic that could be seen for L & I claims. Next day was 4th of July and then headed on vacation so I never got my head injury checked.

6 months agoI’ve had nothing but positive experiences here. All the staff are friendly and Dr. Anderson has shown me so much grace, flexibility and care. They really are the best and I feel lucky to be their patient. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.a year agoThey went a huge extra mile for me in trying to squeeze my appointment in earlier than the usual wait time. At the time of writing this review, I have had a serious diagnosis, one procedure and am beginning my long recovery journey. Had I gone to my previous pcp, I’d still be waiting and wondering what’s wrong with me, and they legitimately told me that it’s not their problem. Huge praise to these guys!a year agoAs relatively new residents of Bellingham, my husband and I were asking people we met for family doctor recommendations. Dr Bonner was highly recommended, but because he’s not (currently anyway) taking new patients, I made an appointment for my yearly routine medication check with Dr Burkill. I couldn’t be happier! The front desk staff and the medical assistant that took me to the exam room and got me started were all friendly while also being professional and efficient. My total wait time was about 10 minutes, not bad at all. During our appointment, Dr Burkill gave me his complete attention and it was obvious that his goal was to treat me as a “whole person” and not merely a list of diagnoses and medications. I left feeling totally satisfied with our interaction and confident that we’ve established a good “care partnership”, so to speak. (Does this sound like an ad? Sorry, but really – I was impressed.)a year agoDespite being overwhelmed with calls, covid testing, and short staffed due to weather, they have been amazing. Amber was super helpful and took the extra time to show me a helpful tool on the patient portal. Very thankful!4 years agoLike many other people here, they fraudulently charged me for an office visit when it should have been $0 for a preventative visit.Red flags went up, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I received the surprise inflated bill a few weeks later. ….After paying a $30 copay. >>I already realized they charge higher than average $$ for the area, but was willing to overlook that for a high quality of care. This visit included no treatment, however, and should have been $0 to me, via insurance
