  I usually go to the downtown San Jose location but accidentally booked at the Santa Clara location. I thought no big deal, I’ll just go there. I was so excited to get my hair cut because I haven’t done it in a while. I even booked a shampooing with a scalp massage. The whole service was suppose to take 40-60 minutes. My stylist took like 3 minutes on the shampooing with no scalp massage and without looking at what my hair looked like dry. He then cut my hair while wet, which my regular stylist said you usually don’t want to do with cuts because your hair is longer when it’s wet. He took like 5 or 6 minutes to cut it, didn’t feather it like I asked, then half blowdried my hair and said it will air dry the rest of the way (I have super thick hair so it takes forever to air dry). I was in and out of the chair in less than 20 minutes and was still charged the full service. So in total 70$ for 20 minutes. I will never be going back to this location and will always make sure I am booking at the downtown location because that was ridiculous.

  I’ve love my hair so much. I never knew it could look this great!! Thrilled with my results. Not a balayage but baby lights and some thicker highlights in a blonde Ashe and im a dark brunette with 1/2 Asian/caucasian hair that always turns brassy. My stylist Sara, determined that was better and I couldn’t agree more. She’s a very skilled young lady and I’m super excited i happened to get assigned to her. She worked really hard because she wanted to make sure i loved it and I appreciate her!!! I’m sure she will have her own salon someday. No doubt.

  Got my cut from the manager who didn’t seem like she wanted to cut my hair, especially when I asked her to clean up the Chelsea cut I already had. She didn’t know how to cut it. She didn’t want to use the clippers even when I said I wanted the back and top to be half inch. Sorry I don’t know blade #s but a stylist should be able to figure that out. I didn’t realize until the next day how uneven my hair was, especially around my ears. After having to get out my own clippers to fix her mess, I noticed the chunk she cut into my sideburns. She used thinning shears to hide what she did. A Chelsea cut is super simple. Everything buzzed except for the fringe. Even showed her pictures. Seemed like she cared more about the next appt than the one she already had in the chair. Not worth the price. I won’t be coming back here again.

  I can’t recommend Kevin enough! He has consistently been my go-to hairstylist ever since I first got my haircut from him. Kevin’s talent and skills are truly remarkable. Whenever I visit him, all I need to do is show him an image or describe my desired hairstyle, and he brings it to life effortlessly. I also receive compliments on my haircut every single time from people. Kevin’s expertise are truly exceptional.

  TLDR uneven choppy trim, unhappy staff

  I should’ve left when my stylist sighed and rolled her eyes as I walked in the door but I stayed hoping for the best. The staff seemed exhausted, overworked, and all around grumpy. I’m not expecting top tier professionalism but I didn’t feel comfortable. I was there for a trim of my medium length hair but the cut I ended up with is super uneven and choppy. There are entire sections that she missed. It kinda looks like I did it myself. My friend recommended I call and have them fix it but I really don’t feel comfortable going back.I’d post pictures but I’m too embarrassed…

  Best fade in the bay area, and these ladies are banging them out 7 days a week for $21 a pop. Places like this just don’t exist anymore. You’d be crazy to go anywhere else for a haircut if you’re even remotely nearby.

  Daniel is a class act and also is friendly with a great sense of humor. He knows hospitality and is always welcoming to everyone (use the online schedule for appointments and you’ll be set). I’ve been happy with my haircut every single time, been going to him for about 6 years now. He listens and has great attention to detail. Highly recommend!

  I was deeply frustrated and disappointed by my experience at About Time Barbershop as a first time customer and new to the Bay Area. Despite telling Daniel that I’ve been getting the same haircut for 4 years and providing him with clear PICTURES of MYSELF depicting my desired haircut, he deviated significantly from my instructions. When I politely voiced my concerns, he dismissed them and justified his actions. In doing so, he invalidated my wishes and told me, “If you want your hair cut like that, the side will be poofy and it won’t look good. Wear it out for a few days and you might like it.” His unprofessionalism and disregard for my preferences were unacceptable. To add insult to injury, a subsequent visit to another barbershop revealed that my haircut was uneven and required correction. I cannot in good conscience recommend About Time Barbershop.
