7 months agoMikky, a semi-feral tabby cat, became ill and was in pain from an abscess. It was determined that he would not survive. Dr Wayne and her support crew at VCA Santa Barbara are all very compassionate people and were very reassuring to me, the human side of the pet parenting equation. Mikky and I were fortunate to contact/meet such nice/competent people on that cold February morning. From first phone contact, to a follow-up letter of condolence received from the Doctor, everyone was very supportive. This is greatly appreciated as I was out of my league. Thank you for compassionately and professionally facilitating our transition. If I had to do it over again I would definitely return to VCA Santa Barbara.5 months agoSUCH compassionate care…we were treated with respect and compassion. They allowed our other dog and two humans in with us. I loved that they made our dog feel loved during her last moments on earth. I thought the price was reasonable for our last-minute needs. Their protocol was impeccable. Thank you, Dr. Wayne. You were so present, as were your staff.5 months agowe had to put our dog down suddenly. we had never been to VCA Animal Hospital before…they were WONDERFUL. They gave us a private room, allowed 4 of us and our 2nd dog to be there while we said good bye to our sweet dog. they were warm, professional, courteous and sensitive to our needs. It was a very sweet experience…we originally wanted to do this at our home, but this was better and exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend them any time. And the prices were WAY better than other facilities in town- super reasonable. and they are open 24 hours… they did not gouge us …we spent half of what we were quoted from mobile vets. Highly recommend this place..a week agoI just spoke with a woman on the phone. She provided a great screening, was very clear on what is an emergency and next steps. I really appreciate her taking the time to be thorough and clear!a year agoSometimes there is a bit of a wait, but what a relief to get vet care in the middle of the night! Very reassuring to know they are there 24 hours. They are compassionate. I don’t like that they take the dog away from me to go to another room. I came in for an ear infection, and although I know they needed to clean her ear, it was pretty clear she was in pain when they did it . She was returned to me with a very, very sore ear, (albeit clean and plucked) with medicine. My dog was clearly shaken. Again, I don’t like the idea of going into another room to treat my dog. I would rather be there to see what is happening. Bottom line, she is better, and I’m grateful for the treatment and care. Thank you VCA

a month ago$300 MINIMUM charge to be seen by a nurse for 5 minutes. Then even more for a basic strep test. A bit excessive. I can see a specialist doctor for less. Maybe one day they’ll be forced to post their prices like they have to for their hospital. Until then they’ll only ever maximize their profits.Edit: to comment on the reply below, what they are saying is they charge an extra $100 if you use insurance. So if you haven’t met your copay you’d be better off pretending you don’t have insurance. And no clue why they charged even more on top of that for the test when they say here that’s included.
4 weeks agoLove this new location.. a little easier to schedule a visit compared to the DT location. Staff is friendly and the space is very nice. Have visited several times and always appreciated the level of service and care. Dinged one star because cottage doesn’t designate this as a nurse-only location… meaning they have limitations on the kid of care provided and the Rx they can prescribe. For example, for pain they cannot prescribe and/or provide anything stronger than Tylenol… so if you are needing something stronger, you will need to go to the main urgent care at Sansum or Cottage hospital.2 weeks agoI’ll be going to this facility from now on for urgent care needs. It’s clean, bright & cheery, and the staff are wonderful & welcoming. So impressed with this facility.3 months agoA bad cut on my wrist while gardening sent me there the first time. I was treated with concern and kindness by everyone there. The PA who cleaned the wound and sewed it up was amazing in his meticulous cleaning and kept me pain free throughout the procedures.6 months agoMy third appointment at Cottage urgent care so easy to make an online appointment. And then a easy breeze to check in. Then rapid room access. And then nice office attendants . And then the Great treatment and attending to by the P. A. of Allison and Brandon and Aaron. All three of my visits I was treated with respect and direct medical attention. I will definitely recommend and use the the cottage urgent care offices again. THANK YOU to the staff ❣️

a month agoTerrible experience overall. To begin with, the only seating available in the waiting room are uncomfortable and flimsy plastic chairs that are more for aesthetics than human bodies. I went to get my blood pressure checked, but was unable to get a reading because they only have one size cuff. I had to pay out of pocket even though I’m insured. When I got my bill in, they ‘diagnosed’ me with conditions we never spoke about. The staff and doctors are incredibly biased and not helpful to people already struggling with illness.3 weeks agoNever going back to this place again. We went to this urgent care and the nurse practitioner Marlene Roberts “took care” of us. We never saw a doctor and paid over $200 for 5 minutes of her time! She was arrogant and rude 3 times within those few minutes while meeting with us. The place was empty, so her attitude couldn’t be attributed to other people waiting to be seen by her. In the past, we met with an actual doctor who was super nice to us, dedicated some time to us and even DISCOURAGED my husband from taking the medication that she suggested right away!! Extremely disappointing experience!!4 months agoSo many varied reviews of this place ranging from 1-5 stars. So what gives? It likely comes down to the specific doctor that treats you. Dr. Roberts took care of me very well and competently, I felt very comfortable and would go there again at any time. Thank you!a year agoI have a great primary care doc but for certain quick things I’ve gone to Zugan for several years and always got fast, competent and friendly service. Recently I have found it to be the best way by far to get a COVID test. Make an appointment, even the same day. A knowledgeable doc comes out quickly and takes the swab for a test that fits your situation and symptoms. You’re done and gone in no time. The result, more reliable than a home test, comes quickly by email and phone call.
