  1. Nice seafood food place too visit. Oysters were very delicious and lobster bisque was so tasty. Waiters were very attentive and friendly. I’ve been to quite a few seafood restaurants and I must say prices here are bit high here. Overall, very friendly establishment and very tasty good. Thank you Shaw’s Crab House.

  2. The food was amazing. We started with delicious crab cakes and then moved to the salmon sushi and salad. But all was not well! They forgot to bring bread to the table out of the gate. Then they brought us in a wrong dish. It would have been no big deal except our waiter would literally disappear for 10 minute increments. I had to get up from the table and point out to the waiter that we had also ordered blackened shrimp and grits, which were probably delicious when they were cooked but now they were 15 minutes cold and a little more chewy than they should have been.

Three times we had to ask other staff to fill our drinks. While they graciously took off the dinner we did not order, it seemed like the staff was a little discombobulated.

But for me, the straw that broke the camel’s back is when they brought my girlfriend her blackened shrimp and grits, to make a place on the table, he grabbed the mistaken fish and chips and actually asked her to grab her fork from her plate instead of just bringing a fresh one. Seriously?

It was my first time at this establishment. My girlfriend has been here many times before and assured me this was highly unusual. Time will tell.

  3. We we thankful to get a table straight away on Saturday night holiday weekend. Sat at high top in bar area which is open to the regular dining area with white tablecloth. We started with chop salad and I think this may be their specialty. It was very nice. Shrimp cocktail amazing. our waiter asked if we wanted bread. iWarm potato’s bread. We had 5 or 6 different wait staff tend to us. Crab cakes great! Shaw platter and found the Scallops to be a little small but good very very well. Asparagus has a nice dip. The vegetable is from a local farm, It needed a splash of lemon, oil. s/p. This place is next to Andy’s Jazz club so it’s the perfect dinner before your show but I recommend a reservation. Finally, not sure why, but we were surprised with a free desert. Raspberry pie and it was out of this world!

  4. This should be on the list of Chicago’s must try/eat/do. Such traditional feels and food is really good! The manager is so knowledgeable about the oysters and the food. The waiter was so warm and friendly. It checks every box for a perfect dining experience! I had the lobster roll and it was delish. I like that they used toast and not a bun. The oysters! Oh my…. So so good. I think I can just have the oysters for a meal… the key lime pie was nice, too. It didn’t have that over the top sour zing which I think makes it more enjoyable. If I ever come back to Chicago I will revisit.

  5. It’s OK…portions were quite small and I definitely have had much better lobster roll for less.
The Chilean sea bass was under seasoned and for being the highest priced fish I expected better.
All in all… Its just OK where it needed to be really good.

I do have to say that the oysters were EXCELLENT. The options and variety is good.. From sweet to briny. This was the best part of the meal.

This steak was GREAT! I’ve been to steak houses in Chicago, and this was the absolute best. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our server was the best. She was professional and very courteous. This was a birthday gift for my wife and the fact that she finished her steak, told me that she loved it (she’s not a steak eater). I would go there again in a heartbeat! Try it if you’re in Chicago!!!

First time back in well over a decade and they have not missed a beat. Still one of the absolute best steak houses in the country.

Spent nearly two hours under the expert and perfect attention of Michelle C. The food was excellent. The desserts were excellent. The service was excellent. The price was reasonable for a high end steak house.

Extremely highly recommended. A must do if you are in Chicago. When we go back, and we will, Michelle is going to be a must-have. Can’t rave about her enough.

I want to give an extreme thank you to Tito the security staff member, and Chris for seating us. They really looked out for us, something that stood out from other restaurants. To talk about the food, the spinach filled Mushrooms were my favorite, and excellent. The cheese and spinach compliments the mushroom in a warm olive oil coating. The crab bisque was creamy fulfilling and very delicious. The breads were certainly unique as well. The Chilean sea bass was tender and flaky, had some Japenese flavor tones, and was savory and slightly sweet, which I wasn’t expecting, which made it slightly better than average. I wasn’t a fan of the cold crab meat, but it is definitely an experience. I also ordered the crab cakes, crab stuffed shrimp which wasn’t bad, but I’d try other things next time. Wasn’t a fan of the key lime pie, but the espressos were very good. I look forward to reordering everything I really enjoyed, and trying new things. Excellent service and decor. Come well dressed

Our second time here and we love it! Tim always makes it a special experience. We love the music (standards) and the food NEVER disappoints. It’s our Sunday afternoon ritual. We walk, but they do have valet. While reservations are recommended, we’ve never had a problem getting seated on Sunday afternoons.

This place seems to be a social scene for anyone who is in a who’s who crowd. I felt as if I was in a nice restaurant where someone was going to make me an offer I couldn’t refuse. The food is a little expensive and “okay” in taste. The staff is excellent. Very fast service (once seated) and extremely polite, anticipates customer needs, and knowledgeable. I ordered the crab cakes and hash browns. The items are all a la carte. The bread basket is very nice. I recommend getting one.

Friday night, I sat at a high top near the bar. Baseball game was on so it was pretty crowded. They had someone playing the piano, which was a nice touch. My waitress made great recommendations. Food was almost perfect – I would say the white fish could’ve used more seasoning. Maybe it’s just me 🙂 The waitress saw that I barely touched it and took it off the bill. Overall great experience.

Our waiter, Brandon, was excellent. Good personality, funny, attentive. The manager, middle aged gentleman, was outstanding! The food was prepared perfectly. The sauce with the tuna…. heaven in my mouth! Such a perfect way to start our weekend getaway from kids, work and school.

First time trying Hugo’s and will definitely be back. Great service starting from the hostess to our waiter. Made a reservation and even if I couldn’t select outdoor seating they accommodated my family and I. I was also celebrating my birthday and they brought out a dessert on the house. Everything we got was delicious!

This review is based on our visit to Hugo’s yesterday evening. It’s summertime and the idea of getting some oysters and a drink could not be cast aside for long(especially if you are walking past the patio arrangements this place has!). It was our ‘season’s first oyster and lobster roll’ and they were great! The oyster options are limited but you get the good stuff! Apart from the lobster roll(s) being great, it was presented in an interesting way (see pic). What else? A glass of white and a goose island 312 and a great time. My wife and I will soon find ourselves frequenting this neighborhood charm throughout this summer.

We went for our 9 year anniversary and it was perfect! From the moment we walked in the door the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The service was great. Our food was amazing. Then, before we left they brought us an ice cream sundae to celebrate. Now that’s really above and beyond service!! We were so excited to go to Hugo’s and are so thrilled that it was a great time, we will definitely go back. I would recommend anyone go there for a special occasion or just good food

Had a great meal before a show. Food was excellent and came out quickly from the kitchen. All the food had great flavor and texture, very fresh. Presentation was awesome as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. A small jazz trio performed and it created an amazing atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Food is fabulous. Very fresh seafood, menu reasonably price, and food is well worth it. Friendly staff, attentive to allergy issues and ensured all proper precautions were taken. No reservation or wait to get seated. Very short wait from time of order until food arrived. Will definitely go here again when back in Chicago.

Super classy restaurant to enjoy a wonderful meal. Amazing dining room especially with the live music. Plates are full and beautifully put together. The only negative – the menu is so good, it’s difficult to choose one dish. You’ll most likely have to come back multiple times. Highly recommended!

The food is delicious and the patio has a nice atmosphere. I had the cup of seafood gumbo, a strawberry bubbly margarita, and my entree was braised short rib and crab stuffed shrimp with crispy brussels sprouts. Everything tasted amazing. My waiter was very attentive and positive.

Catch 35 is a nice restaurant located on Wacker Drive just across the street from the Chicago Riverwalk. The service was great and ambience is nice. The food was just okay to me. Not really much to write home about. The salmon was good! The ice cream reminded me of the great value brand at Walmart 🥴 Nevertheless, it’s worth a try and you judge it for yourself.

Blake, the restaurant manager, went above and beyond to make sure my first time at Eddie V’s was an evening to remember! The restaurant is very nice and spacious. Several areas for private dining or an evening on the town. I also enjoyed the live music played by the band. I visited during Chicago restaurant week and was amazed by the wonderful dinner deal they offered. 3-course dinner for $39! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for good food and great service. Thanks Blake!

Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve been all over Europe and was born in New Orleans, so that doesn’t come lightly. Service was amazing, ambiance was classy and everyone there made our experience lovely while celebrating my wife’s birthday. Every dish and drink we had was exquisite. Cannot recommend this place enough.

High-end dinning done right! Had a wonderful and professional server who made the experience so classy. Food was heavenly; perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. I had the Chilean sea bass and it was amazing. Service was smooth and timely.

But, the service was even better! Alyssa, made our dinner really special. I would definitely ask for her, take your experience to the next level!

When you go to a place like this, you hope its worth the money… and it was worth the $$$$! Booked this place wanting a fancy dinner, and understanding it was a little more expensive and it did not disappoint! From the start the service was exceptional. The calamari was great, one of the better ones I’ve ever had. The ribeye was massive and very tasty! Also cooked to perfection. The side of truffle mac n cheese was the best mac I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner or special occasion!
