  Had the best experience here! Everyone was super nice and awesome music was played in the background! I don’t trust many people with my hair, however, Ari is the best and did everything I asked for! Will definitely be getting my hair done by her again!!!

  Actually, this rating didn’t even deserve one star. However, since I received an honest apology from Ari and refund for the most miserable haircut of my life, this hairdresser gets only one star if any. Since I didn’t have a cut in my hair after growing my hair to the middle of my back for 3 years, I wished I had a little more movement in my hair in the form of soft longer curtain banks to get me started. There was a lot of work in the last few years and I didn’t want to give away too much hair, but slowly get used to it. Also, I explicitly wanted a simple cut that hardly needed styling because I often wear my hair in a ponytail or braided and now wanted to wear it more open. The end result looked okay in the mirror from the front. On the way home I noticed that felt a little strange. A friend confirmed my fears that almost half of my hair was literally plucked away. In addition, still totally crooked. In the end, the hairdresser not only cut curtain banks, but also shortened the hair at the back of my head by over half of my original length, although there was never any talk of that! Since I sat the whole time turned away from the mirror, I could unfortunately not see how short she had really cut, otherwise I would have stopped her immediately. Also, especially with such a lot of hair that is cut off, should at least be a consultation with the customer before the razor (yes a razor and not scissors) is applied. That this stylist calls herself a senior stylist is a joke. Even an amateur would have done better. In the end, I did get my money back, after I two hours later and close to tears have taken the courage to go to the store again. An apology and a refund can’t make my hair grow back, but hopefully future customers will be careful and maybe go to another store after all.

  I love this salon so much. The vibes are always immaculate when I come get a haircut here. I have been wanting to get my hair dyed for awhile now and I am so glad that I finally went through with it. I have gotten my haircut by Hopper and Vanessa (which were both great experiences also), but ultimately, I chose Ari for my hair coloring this time around! Ari is da bomb. She was so sweet and really understood the assignment. You’re doing the lord’s work honey!!! Thank you, Ari!!!

  I’ve been a coming to Skull & Combs New Haven for my haircuts for almost a year now, and i’ve consistently re-booked with Ari as she is not only super kind, sweet, and understanding, but also super skilled at, and passionate about her job. She always checks in to make sure you leave the salon happy. I recently got my hair bleached & dyed by Ari, and when she saw I was doubtful about my results, Ari stayed hours past close to achieve a result I was happy with, and even accommodated me weeks after when the hair color did not fade out to my liking, at an extremely reasonable cost. Just be honest about your expectations and results, and you will receive!! 100% recommend.
