a month agoI travel constantly… and only feel motivated to leave a review when an establishment really stands out. This is one of them. I saw nothing but smiles from the professional stylist. I had a little bit of a wait and observed how pleasant everybody was to their clients around me as well.They have a separate barbering section. Jennifer Tow gave me one of the best haircuts of my entire life. I’m in sales and my appearance is important. I was incredibly happy with service and product all around. Thank you so much. I’m very glad that I call Iowa City my new home and this is definitely my spot from now on !!

Thank goodness for Brandi and her skills! Finally a new haircut that looks just the way he wants it ???4 months agoI went to Thompson & Co. a few months ago for a haircut and enjoyed the service- they were quick, good, and inexpensive. However, I came back recently to get my hair trimmed & clean up some of the layers and I was really disappointed. Jessie Meek was my stylist and while she was super nice, she did mess up my hair. My haircut was not complicated at all, but she cut the front of my hair unevenly, my face framing pieces are about an inch and a half or so different in length (I included pictures). Luckily, it is less noticeable with all my hair down. Also, I have naturally wavy hair and told the stylist this before she used a blow dryer to straighten it. After leaving the salon I had to go home and re-straighten parts of it myself because she did not straighten the top half of my hair at the back. Regardless, the front looks like I cut it with my eyes shut or something 🙁 I’m bummed because Jessie was so nice and I had a good experience before, but I don’t think I will be coming back again.a month agoI had Jessie and it was my first time there !! She gave me exactly what I wanted and did an amazing job !!

2 months agoI waited 70+ minutes today to have my son’s haircut. We walked in with his name first on the list with 0 minutes on the estimated wait time on my phone. The screen at the store deleted his name. The desk lady was rude and said well his name isn’t on there is it. I showed her my phone with his name at the top of the list. We have been going to that location for almost 10 years. It was the last today. Sad how petty and lazy people are these days.2 months agoI think the older lady hates good haircuts because she stays butchering mine and is rude. How are you gonna be snippy when you made my head look like I walked scalp first into a wood chipper. I would have been better off giving a homeless person $10 and letting them do it5 months agoNot one to complain. I try to keep my reviews positive, however was disheartened by the attitude of a stylist. Her name was Kristina. She was pretty rude to my boyfriend. I sat in the waiting area and noticed she kept rolling her eyes. Acted as though she was annoyed by everything and everyone. He normally gets a shampoo and cut. However he was ready to leave before she hardly started. So he got just a cut. She was quite snippy. No pun intended. I laughed as we were exiting, cause the sign on the door said “please be kind” I wanted to draw her attention to it and say she should try it sometime… haircut looked okay, but the service was lacking..6 months agoI had to be in line by 9:45 on a Sunday morning to get in line for a haircut before the online check-in started at 10:05. By 10:15 the wait was over 2 1/2 hours due to the online check-ins. Only 2 people were working and they had to split their time checking in people too. I have tried for unsuccessfully several weeks to get a haircut time that would fit in my schedule, I gave up on that and tried the standing in line option. My haircut was fine, the person who did it was friendly and courteous and my haircut was fine.2 months agoThe last time I got my hair cut here, the lady absolutely butchered it. To the point the only way to fix would have been to shave my head. Seriously, no idea how she could have finished school, and gotten hired with how bad it was messed up. This was years ago, and I haven’t been back since. I still remember how embarrassing it was to know the back of my head looked like cursive. I had been getting my annual haircut here for years, and they were great up until this one experience.

4 months agoThe staff and stylists were very welcoming, kind, warm and knowledgeable in their skill set. This is the second time I have been to Groovy Katz. I requested the same stylist as the first time. The hair cut was a bit shorter than I had wanted on the top half of my head including the bangs, but the lower half was the perfect length. She did an excellent job and I will definitely go back again.3 months agoMy stylist Stephanie is very attentive and very talented. She carefully listened during my first consultation with me. Her application of my color has been perfect. I trust her when we discuss my haircut, and I have been very pleased.
