  They’ve got about everything a person could need for lawn and garden. Flowers are always cheaper than the big box stores. Fertilizers as well. The difference between them and the big box stores is they have individuals who know a good amount about anything you need help with. People in my neighborhood always ask how do you keep the yard so nice. Love and a lil Bell seed store is always the reply. ❤️

  This is the place to go for garden and plant needs. It is just a site to go in and see all the seeds they have at the seed counter. The staff are always friendly and willing to help. My wife was looking for a blue windmill wind ornament. They only had the orange one on display. They went into the warehouse and built her the blue one immediately. They easily could have said to come back. Excellent small business.

  I gave 2 stars because in the past I have never had a problem with Bell’s Seed Store. But this last experience was definitely poor. I purchased an adult stand/swing set and it was suppose to be delivered the following week. I received a call confirming the color the next day and I let them know it would probably be a tight fit through my gate. I was assure that would not be an issue and they would call me on Monday with definite delivery day. When I did not hear anything Monday and most of Tuesday I called and no one answered the phone and their message stated, do not leave message, try again or come to store. After several unsuccessful tries on the phone, I went to store to check on my delivery date. At the store, I was told it would be an additional $150.00 delivery fee and it would not be delivered until the next week. I was shocked that I now needed to pay another $150.00. The receipt when I paid for the set did not have anything on it about a delivery fee. One of the employees came up to me and expressed on how heavy it would be and they would need to lift it and how many people it would take. At that point I just cancelled the order for a refund. I had been so excited when I ordered the swing set and made a space under trees for the set. I don’t know how it was not known that I needed to pay a $150 delivery fee at the point of order. Also, the fact that I had to drive the 25 minutes to find that out. That is just poor customer service and very disappointing.

  I had such a good experience going to Bells for the first time today. A nice gentleman named Coach (Lewis?) greeted me at the door and gave me a tour of how the store is laid out. He even helped me pick out a couple shade plants for my yard. This store is a gardeners paradise! The best part is the employees being so helpful. It makes a huge difference when there is someone to help you. I’ll definitely be back to support your business.

  Having a bad day? Need a pick me up? This is your place! I come every 2-3 months and replace whatever I killed. It’s way cheaper than therapy! They have the biggest selection on house plants and succulents. The prices are great and I’m a huge believer in shopping local. I’ve never been able here someone didn’t ask if I needed help. They are all knowledgeable and very willing to stop and answer questions. My next goal in our home is to fix yard and I cannot wait to come and buy all the plants.

  I visited on April 3rd and it must have been a record crowd! I just went to buy some cucumber plants and there were lots of happy people there! It’s a big place and everyone was spread out so it wasn’t a problem… there was no waiting to check out for me … because they had an express line for people just picking up a few items! Very organized and wonderful friendly people working! I love going there! … even when they’re busy… like today! (I have heard even the NC zoo comes to get some plants here.) They have such a great selection! I love recommending this place because people always thank me for it after they go there! I used to have a small landscaping business and loved the place because they have such a wide selection of plants… my customers were always happy! (And the staff there …always were helpful with how to plant them if I had questions!) You’ll thank me too if you give them a try!

  Stephanie was an awesome help! Totally was able to direct me to the beautiful and perfect low maintenance macho ferns my front porch needed. She was extremely helpful and I appreciated her support. She also talked me through some options for my hydrangeas and offered further assistance if I brought back photos to keep them in good health. I also was overwhelmed with joy when I found this place. So many decisions and wonderful plants to look at. I can’t wait to go back.

  I had a really cool experience attending hummingbird day and the banding seminar. I was able to adopt a hummingbird for a small fee. I got to hold it briefly when I released it after it was banded. Susan Campbell presented the seminar. She is a licenced hummingbird bander, researcher and biologist. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I walked around a bit as well and they have a huge plant selection. So many amazing plants that I wanted and haven’t seen for sale anywhere else. They also sell planters, pots, bird baths, fountains, planting mediums and pretty much everything gardening. I bought a Firecracker Vine plant. I haven’t seen one for sell anywhere else. It’s so pretty and healthy. Covered in blooms and it was a great price. Overall pretty impressed with this place.

  Edited: Nice variety of plants and affordable prices, but almost all plants I looked at had mealybugs. I got two small plants, thinking they were good (on the other side of the greenhouse) nope. Mealybugs galore. Glad I caught it before keeping them in my house. $25 down the drain- I get pests are inevitable but if a greenhouse can’t keep an infestation at bay then I assume they’re cutting corners with plant care in general. Some plants were literally coated in “cotton” and mealies. Ugh. Upset I drove over an hour to visit.

  We visited this location in order to browse their plant selection. We asked two different employees questions about their carnivorous plants, and they both responded with attitude and exacerbation. It was to the point where we didn’t feel comfortable asking anymore questions or buying plants. I can say this was surprising seeing as how small businesses are usually the opposite. Hopefully this isn’t the norm.

  They’ll have everything you need for your garden conveniently in downtown carrboro. I’ve gotten seeds, bulbs, hay, seed potatoes, seedlings, fertilizer, succulent soil, seed starter soil, pots and more. But be aware it is quite pricey.
