  1. Had a great dinner before the Twins game this week. Bar seating, quick service including food. Jambalaya was super flavorful and has a nice spicy kick. For the record, leftovers heated up great too! Crab roll was great, fries had a good seasoning. Server was friendly and timed her check-ins well. Will visit again!

  2. We came here to have the lobster roll. Great service and outdoor vibe, nice ambience.

The classic lobster roll was very delicious, they made the lobster salad filling full of tasty, whole lobster. For my taste, slightly too creamy/rich. However, the buttered & fried bread that the roll came in was delicious!!

My wife’s Connecticut style lobster roll was a bit of a disappointment as the bread roll was smaller and not as crispy as the classic. Also, while the lobster was in bigger chunks, it was more tough and I could tell that it wasn’t as fresh as some other lobster rolls such as Mason’s.

Cajun fries were really addictive, so value for price was there!

    ~$30/person

  3. They have plenty of seating outside. So if you don’t have a reservation, there’s a good chance the wait won’t be too long. We were promptly seated without a reservation. We got their crispy calamari to start. The calamari was fried great and it came with fried pickles too which helped balance out the heaviness of the calamari. We then got two orders of the crab benedict, a Cajun avocado toast and the Smack shack original. All the dishes tasted amazing but my favorite was the Cajun avocado toast. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked so well that I could easily have gotten another order of it. I’ll definitely visit again the next time I’m in Minneapolis!

  4. Always drove past, but today I finally got to go.

We had the Connecticut Style and Original Lobster Rolls, and those were delicious and had a really good filling to bread ratio. Wasn’t overly saucy, and the lobster was cooked to *perfection*. We also had the Jambalaya (which was A LOT of food, very filling) and the Fish and Chips (which were HUGE, CRISPY, and the sauce with them sealed the deal). Oh, and the corn bread is good too.

For drinks we had the Hummingbird Margarita and the Hurricane (you kinda have to at a Southern style restaurant, that’s where the cocktail came from). Both were good, the Hurricane was good and juicy, not too strong. The Hummingbird is definitely for people that have stronger taste buds.

The establishment was WAY bigger than I thought it’d be, and it was really cool getting to see the seafood getting cooked in the middle of the restaurant as well. The inside was really cool and dark, like the set to a movie with a sick bar too. We sat on the patio, and it gave enough space between tables to feel comfortable. The tables were also not shaky or wanted to fall over, so that’s a plus.

TL;DR a really nice, casual, and comfortable place to get your seafood fix in, we are definitely coming back again!

  5. I was recommended this place and I am so glad that I went before I left for home the next day. The service was amazing and the food, hands down, was the best I had eaten in Minneapolis! I got the salmon over wild rice and veggies with pomegranates and I got as an appetizer, the crab cakes and they were so delectable! 😋 There were many other things I wanted to try on the menu as well so hopefully I’ll get to go back there one day!

Loved the place. Food was really good. Loved all the Buns and tried the Restaurant Week menu, everything was good.

Only thing I would suggest is that they include the tips in the bill like other restaurants 22%, with out the service charge of 12% that they charge. Kinda inconvenience for customers i would say. I love tipping. But seeking 12% service charge and also tips on the side minimize the customers willingness to tip more to the servers. Either increase the price of the food and let the customers tip servers instead of the owner as a service charge. Its just confusing.

Overall food wise- very good. Recommend

Great atmosphere! Staff was friendly and welcoming. I wish I loved the food and can say it was amazing like every other reviews but then everyone has their own opinion and then I have mine. I personally felt like the pork belly was very fatty for me. The sauce on it gave me Buffalo Wild Wing Asian Zing taste. Which I don’t hate. The bun pork shoulder WAS okay & recd by our waitress. Which I’m glad that she recd it. JFC was decent. It looks burnt but doesn’t taste like it. The fries would have been amazing. It looked like it was going to e crispy but it was a bit soggy. I wasn’t mad at this place since I’m opened to trying new places. Was I satisfied with the food I’ll have to be honest and say no. It didn’t feel authentic. They also charge a 12% service fee charge and that’s not considered tip 😤. Other then that I managed to take really good photos! Lol This is a one time try and on to the next.

I would highly recommend this place!!

The food was extremely good and so was the ambience. My dishes were so unique and haven’t tasted in any other Ramen or Asian eateries. Small plates were top notch.

Ambience was interesting with a rustic look. I liked the way we need to request for service here. We had to press a button at our seat and we got immediate attention from the crew.

I love this place. Amazing food menu of authentic Japanese cuisine. Great options for vegetarians as well. And a perfect cocktail menu to pair with your meal. The rooftop view is great and the staff is friendly and they truly know their stuff. I would go again.

FANTASTIC service (cannot be stated enough, these people are awesome), food, and atmosphere.
Home crafted sake! 3 levels, including a roof dine in!
WORST criticism? It’s hard to find, so I included photos of the entrance.

Every dish was robust and filling, as ramen should be!

Mule lovers? The Moto Mule is the BEST mule drink I have had, from any place, EVER.

We’re meeting friends for a birthday dinner and we got there before happy hour ends (5pm) and we tried the fried ravioli and the margarita pizza. Both were great by the true star was the ravioli. I could have eaten 10 of those. The sauce underneath… amazing. It’s only available on the happy hour menu. The service was great and very accommodating of our big party and us bringing in our own cake. Highly recommended checking them out!

Red Rabbit was pretty awesome! The location is fun and the atmosphere is relaxing. Every item we ate was delicious…from appetizers to desserts. It was perfect for the chilly, rainy day outside. I will definitely go back and it is worth the trip if you’ve never been.

Got the vegan pizza. Was very delicious. Good atmosphere. Great wine and beer selections. Giving it a 4 star due to the 3.9% mandate compliance surcharge. Maybe if it was 2020/2021 but CDC mandates have been lifted for a while and none of the other restaurants we went to while in town did this. Understandable but blind sided.

We finally decided to give this place a go! Came in for a late lunch. I can describe the menu as somehow progressive Italian and having lived in Italy for a while I can say that it is one of the best I have had in Minneapolis. The service is very warm, friendly and efficient. The bar is very well stocked with tons of choices. They even have Genever which is very hard to find.

Absolutely love it! With all the quality service and food, it’s worth it and not pricey at all.

A lot of reviews mentioned Bison tartare, so we ordered it. It’s great. Oysters though look small for the price, they’re sweet and juicy. Pork chop is our most favorite dish of the night! It’s juicy and the sauce is sweet and slightly sour. White truffle gnocchi is great, the portion is bigger than expected. We ordered honey & cream cake, and ice cream & sorbets for dessert. We love both of them! They gave free cookies and candies after we asked for checks (would have ordered only one dessert if we knew that)

The best brunch spot in Minnesota! I got the pot roast as my main dish.. and it exceeded my expectations with flavor. The sauce used for this dish went perfectly with the roasted vegetables and meat. I also got the oysters and they’re delicious and fresh! Aaaand the vanilla crepe cake is a MUST! The customer service here is phenomenal and they always ensure customers are satisfied with their dish. Make your reservation ahead of time and you won’t be disappointed!

I thought the food was good. The portions are not too huge so just keep that in mind. The olive oils they use for bread dipping was so fresh and delicious. I had the ink spaghetti and really enjoyed the cooked peppers in the sauce. They are respectful of food allergies. But the salads we had really would have been over the moon if I could eat the cheese. I had the rhubarb sorbet for dessert, and I think that was my most favorite thing the whole night… except for their keepsake cold cider in a bottle!

We went in for a date night, little bit of a wait to be seated for our reservation however, it was well worth the wait. We both enjoyed the tortelli and I also really enjoyed the “London calling” cocktail. Overall our experience with everything was exquisite.

First time here has a seat right by the prep area. Cool experience being able to see all the effort it goes into one’s meal. Fantastic cocktails and delicious dinner. I had wagu steak and the Mrs had duck. The spinach side with cheese curds was interesting and the wife loves the mushrooms.

This was my first visit. I went for brunch with a group of friends. The place sits on the corner of a busy intersection, but there is a (free) parking lot across which was nice.

They offer a decent amount things on the menu for brunch, and their drink menu is nice as well. Sadly I was not too impressed with the food. I ordered the prime rib hash, and there was hardly any prime rib in it. The fried green tomatoes were bland, and had this thick breading on them.

The service was decent, we had a woman named Sheila, and a guy named Mark (I think). They kept the mimosas coming, and checked on us often take sure things were going well.

They have an outdoor patio which is beautifully set up! It wasn’t the nicest weather so we did not sit outside.

Omg the outdoor seating area is beautiful! The food was good and nice service. The indoor seating area had some beautiful stained glass – but it has a weird smell. Smells “old”. Would definitely go back, but maybe not sit inside.

I was talking to somebody at a party while I was here, and they had been here at the same restaurant in 1965. It’s a staple, it’s right out of a time warp and it’s still completely lovely. If you’re looking for something a little bit fabulous, yet low-key enough to just wear jeans- you found it! Perfect for a nightcap, or bringing a date to a quiet booth.

Our group of friends has been going to Jax for about 10 years. Until the need for their latest interior renovation, we used the front group seating area and it has been idea. This time, it was beautiful weather and we fit in on the back patio. We were in the shade under an overhead cover and near the restaurant’s back entrance. We enjoyed the exceptional view of their gardens. So full of color! And nice to walk around and view the flowerpots up close after we ate.

While Jax sits on the corner of a busy intersection, ample parking is available in the lot just across on the eastside. And that keeps you out of the faster traffic on University Ave when crossing the street to eat.

They offer a nice variety on the menu for brunch and dinners. Several in our party are pleased with their drink menu. The food is consistently good. I ordered the prime rib hash, and there was hardly any prime rib in it. The fried green tomatoes are delightful – a fun way to eat your vegetables. The Classic Eggs Benedict is excellent, as is the Prime Rib, Au Jus. When it comes to salads, I highly recommend their Berries and Fried Goat Cheese Salad.

This summer they seem to be a bit short on staff – like just about everyone. They were good at refilling coffee and mimosas. We really enjoyed the Sunday buffets they once held. The spread and staff were truly exceptional.

I recommend that you sit on the outdoor patio if weather permits!

Classic place, have been going for ages. The Christmas decorations in the patio were beautiful. Food was pretty decent. We had the salmon, prime rib, perogi, roasted tomatoes and goat cheese, creme brulee, and key lime pie. Service was decent, food was decent. Will return
