  1. Consistently delicious. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never had a bad meal. My favorite is the “fried special” which is fried shrimp and oysters. The menu says 3 oysters but it’s always 6-8. I’ve never had fried seafood this crispy but also this juicy on the inside. Best fried seafood west of the Sabine River.

  2. If you like “Dives” like I do then this is the place for you. It’s packed and the pace behind the counter is quick. Eating on the “island” is at a premium, and requires waiting, so eating around the outside was our option.
Service is shouting your order over the people around the middle and reaching over same when food is ready. Checkout is telling the cashier what you ordered.
Food is amazing, we had the gumbo and stuffed crabs.
I love this place and the people who frequent are no-nonsense, low maintenance, and friendly.
I can’t wait to go back.

  3. Great place to go for simply prepared seafood. Expect it to be busy, really really, busy. If you don’t go early, you’ll wait for a spot. If you go in the mid day maybe you’ll have a chance to get a spot. If you go for dinner, expect to wait. Just rebuilt into much more seating. They could have done a better job on the construction. It looks like it’s 30 years old. But it’s only about 7 years old. You order at the oyster bar and pay at the register. It’s almost on the honor system

  4. What everyone says about busy is true but that’s what you want to see because that’s where the food is good.
It is unique in that the restaurant is built like a tug boat in a way. You walk in find a seat and go sit down. About half are shaped around the oyster bar and half are outward facing. And if you wait for someone to come take your order you would be wrong. Menu is simple and hangs from the middle of the room. just get one of the guy’s attention and tell him what you want.
When your done tip the guys in cash
Your not getting a written ticket or anything and get up go to the register and tell the man what you ate. It’s on your honor. I gotta tell ya though If you like seafood eat here and try the flounder but if a cross cut fried flounder isn’t your bag they have amazing shrimp fresh oysters catfish even frog legs. Don’t get all fancied up though and it’s probably not a first date kind of place. BUT THE FOOD ROCKS.

  5. I’m 44 years old and I have loved this restaurant since I was 10. The unique atmosphere, the delicious food, and the happy staff are all reasons that you MUST try Captain Toms. I always make sure to get the gumbo, oysters on the half shell, and a Texas Mini (fried shrimp and fried catfish)

I live in Dallas now, but I promise you that anytime I’m in the Houston area, I will be eating here at LEAST once. This day I did takeout for 10 people. The food was excellent, as I expected. I even bought 2 pints of gumbo to freeze and gift to my dad for Christmas as he no longer lives in the area and misses it too. If there were 10 stars that I could give Captain Tom’s, they would be one of the few to get all 10. Great value for the price too. Eat in if you can, but get to go at a minimum. Whatever you do, don’t just drive by!!!

This was one of the best upscale Louisiana styled seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was great. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. And hearing the gumbo was the best. I tried it and was definitely impressed. My only minor negatives was that I ordered a bourbon street plate and wasn’t expecting pasta at a seafood place and it was the only dish that had pasta. Yet it wasn’t really stated in the name or mentioned by our server. Also you are forced to do valet. There’s regular parking and as I was parking there the valet driver rushed and parked a car being valet in the only spot instead of their designated valet lot. I felt like they were trying to force people to use them . I’ll definitely come back here again.

First time trying but was very pleased! Everything was very tasty! Service as amazing my waitress Claire I think suggested a wonderful cocktail for a nice fruity flavor. The oysters evidently very fresh. Sushi was tasty salad was fresh yet fulfilling. Will definitely be returning for brunch in the near future!

Celebrated my birthday here for the 1st time. We dined in for a late lunch which was absolutely amazing. This place is a bit pricey but worth every dime. We had the lobster rolls, the sea bass, crab cakes, wedge salad and seafood salad. Everything tasted great. I would highly recommend a visit here. Enjoy 😊

Valentine’s Date night!! We wanted to try somewhere we have not been before that has a nice ambience, so I booked Willie G’s! What a lovely place from the location to the decor of the building. Right when you go in, you are warmly greeted and you can hear the electric vibe. However, they took us to one of the back rooms and the energy dropped, feels very different, but quaint. The server, Sara was awesome and very attentive. The food came out promptly and we started with the drinks and appetizers. Cocktail drinks were not the best, but the appetizers were incredible…flavorful, good portion and really good. They even have a happy hour that I will need to comeback and try. Next to the main entrees and not impressed. The steak was not the best cut and very chewy, even when I ordered medium rare. The steak knife was dull, so I used the butter knife. If you get the Parmesan fries, note that they are fully size potato wedges of 4-5 inches and not cut into small pieces. Live, love, laugh…ChowChow Time!

Absolutely amazing! We came here on a Friday night, no reservations, no fancy attire, just empty bellies. The ambiance is great for date night, family dinner, bar seating or special occasion. The valet, hostess, servers, bartenders are all very classy & well trained.
The food was divine & drinks were perfectly mixed.

The atmosphere is awesome! The food..was pretty good. The gumbo was probably a 5/10 IMO. Fried catfish was 6/10…fries were alright. Slightly disappointed but worth a trip.

We were in Houston picking up a part for my husband’s rig. We always like to try new places. I’m sooooooo glad I picked this place. The atmosphere is vibin. Love the art on the walls. Our server was awesome. And the food was delicious! My husband had been craving seafood for a couple days and I’ll never turn down a good boil. My boiled shrimp was clean, hot, and spicy. I would definitely be back again. Maybe even take another 2 hour drive just because. Would definitely recommend and my strawberry Margarita was amazing. We’re bring friends next time. And the place was very clean! Can’t wait to go back.

Worst crawfish ever. Size was great but the flavor taste burnt! They should have been cooked in the garlic butter sauce. That was the only thing that taste decent. Never again
Update: order was TO-GO! Discovered the food was trash after driving home. Why would I drive back to have it remade? It should’ve been done right the first time.

The charbroiled oysters were very tasty, The shrimp and crawfish Poboy was not greasy but it could use some sauce, the fries are on point. The Jambalaya was flavorful, but little too wet. The crawfish was just disappointing, it had no flavor, the seasoning was added after.

Great food, and Cajun taste. Nice down home feel and had a wide variety of authentic Cajun fare. The fried seafood poboy is the best I’ve had in Houston. This is a casual place and family friendly.

Dangggg this place is actually pretty good. The house special sauce was bomb and really flavorful. I have been to aot of different places including the ones from California. I would say this place is up there in terms of flavor. Good job!

This place is off the hook. Literally! It’s a very unique dining experience that feels like a back yard low country boil. I want to eventually try everything on the menu. If you are near Hobby airport it would be well worth your while to check this place out!

As a NOLA native the seasoning and flavor here was actually really good. I got the Hot house special on the all you need platter. The shrimp were huge, almost too big since they don’t hold flavor that big lol. The staff was super friendly and service was super quick.

As a Southwest Louisiana native(ya know we love dat seafood boil us), I will just say the seasoning and flavor here was great. Crawfish were easy to peel, although pretty small(it’s early in the season). Crab was excellent. Shrimp was a bit tough(expected for the size). I would suggest maybe they don’t soak the seafood as long after boiled, the meat was kinda very slightly mushy. Atmosphere was not so social, waiter was very dry and seemed to be bothered as if she didn’t wanna be at work today. Overall was a good experience and would most likely return.

Customer service is amazing! Our waitress was a doll!!! Loved her!!! From Dallas but I come here whenever I visit family in Houston😁 its the best doesn’t compare to anything where im from. Look at how big the the crawfish was.

We have eaten here multiple times. We love their shrimp brochette. This is a big plate with BIG shrimp. I love how the plate comes with grilled onions and steamed veggies too. Up until this last visit I loved the fried rice too. This time the rice was a bad attempt at shrimp fried rice. I hope it was a new cook still learning. I usually enjoy a fillet of fried fish ordered ala cart and it comes with a tasty tarter sauce.

Hubby and I had no idea what to expect walking into this place. We were just looking for some good quality seafood…. we found this hidden gem!! 💎💎💎 All of the foods are artfully placed onto the plates and serve hot 🔥 and extremely tasty! 🍤 So very glad we stopped in here!! We plan on visiting again on our next trip through town.

The food was okay. Not a big variety on seafood and fish, only salmon and tilapia. The stuff crabs was more breading than crab meat and not the right seasoning. The only thing I really liked and was really good was the Maxis oysters.

DISGUSTING! THEY REUSE SALSA FROM OTHER TABLES! We found a used straw wrapper in our salsa that came to the table. There’s no way this could’ve happened without staff taking dirty dishes and pouring leftover salsa back into a big batch and reserving it back to guests. This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. I recommend you stay away if you value food safety.

Food is overpriced $22.95 for 10 shrimp (see attached picture) and customer service is beyond horrible. The cashier and who I assume is also taking phone orders has the worst attitude and seems to hate being there. While ordering my phone I was cut off before saying my complete order multiple times. I ask recommendations over the menu items and that seem to be a hassle. When I picked up the order she still had an attitude and created a very uncomfortable transaction. Will most definitely not return. Save yourself the unpleasant experience.
